What's in Lincoln's Doghouse?

What's in Lincoln's Doghouse?

Are there prized bones stored in his century old doghouse?

The howling over Lincoln's eligibility to run for mayor turned into a barking debate Wednesday over what's in the crawlspace of his century old log dogcabin.

Lincoln's lawyer Auggie Doggie argue that Lincoln had always planned to return to his log cabin doghouse called Moose Creek, although it had been leased to a pair of Mutts.

The second day of hearings into claims that Lincoln doesn't meet the one-year residency rule for candidates because he will be 7 months old on February 22nd. The testimony pointed out that in dog years he will be 3.6 years old on election day, a fact that was previously miscalculated. It also focused on his residency and his prized possessions stored in the crawlspace of his Ravenswood log dogcabin when he went to Washington for the job as Chief of Canines.

The Mutts refused Lincoln's request to end their lease early when he returned to Chicago this fall to run for mayor of Chicago.

Under questioning, one of the Mutts testified Wednesday that she had been all through the crawlspace and never saw the treasures Lincoln said were stored there — everything from his favorite dog collar to family water bowls to the puppy blanket he was wrapped in while leaving the Wisconsin Northwoods to come to Chicago.

But minutes after her testimony, Lincoln's lawyer presented their own witness to explain the apparent contradiction.

Lassie, of Hudson Falls, Vermont, a Lincoln family friend, said she pack up a box of family belongings that were placed into a crawlspace to which the Mutts didn't have access.

"I believe my owner Timmy Cabot, tied it closed with a leather leash," Lassie growled.

A Thursday afternoon visit to Lincoln's dogcabin crawlspace was ordered by the election judge. "We will finally get to see what's in Lincoln's crawlspace," barked Auggie Doggie.
